We expect Christmas to be a happy time and one of the problems of Christmas is when it isn't as happy a time for us as we feel it should be - or as happy a time as others around us expect it to be.

Conversely there seems to be a general feeling that Lent is a time to be miserable not jolly. Lent is a time to  give up things, to remember Jesus' suffering and death for us. Yet surely Lent should be a happy time too for we remember the immense love of God for each and every one of us.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son for us - so rejoice and be thankful
